The Lives of Others: Really Good, Too Long

The Lives of Others was really good. As you can see from the photo above is was also really depressing. Basically, every scene in the movie was the most depressing version of that scene you could imagine. The bar? The most depressing bar you have ever seen. The apartment? The most depressing apartment you have ever seen. The office? The most depressing office you have ever seen. The bookstore? Etc. Etc. I thought maybe the movie was 20 minutes too long. After the fall of the Berlin wall, it gets a little tedious, but the rest was amazing. I've been thinking about it for days. Let me know what you think. Am I wrong about the length?
