Don't Do It, Kwan

Is anybody else upset to hear that 25-year-old Michelle Kwan will likely compete in this year's Winter Olympics in Turin? I mean, don't get me wrong, I am a huge Michelle Kwan fan, but I just don't know if I can take it anymore. It was painful enough to watch her lose to that little brat Tara Lipinski, but then we had to relive it when THE WORST HAIRDO IN THE WORLD--I mean Sarah Hughes--completely robbed Kwan in 2002. No one would be happier if she was able to pull out a win this year than me, but I have to say I'm not holding out a lot of hope. In 1998 she got a silver. In 2002, a bronze. If we're playing "Find the Pattern," then, well, you fill in the blanks. I just don't know if I can watch Michelle do her "Fields of Gold" routine for the exhibition skate for a third time in a row. I just can't take it.

I am, however, looking forward to watching Sasha Cohen. She is just back from an injury and expected to make the Olympic team. Read about it here. And trust me. This is just the first of many Olympic Figure Skating-related posts. I love this shit.

I absolutely adore Michellle Kwan's skating, and think she still has much to give in the professional circuit, but just don't think she can keep up on the jumps. Hands down she has more poise, artistry, and consistancy than most of the skaters that are expected to make the team.

Personally, I think she was robbed in 1994 when she was replaced with that boring wimp Nancy Kerrigan. That was her chance. Maybe some of Kwan's passion could have gotten Oksana silver instead of gold...who knows.

As far as Sasha Cohen goes, the only way she'll do well in the olympics is if she doesn't choke...again. She has no consistancy on the ice.

I think she was robbed in 1994 too, too. Another reason for me to hate Cry Baby Kerrigan. Although I did love Oksana's little swan dance that year, so I don't know.

Kwan has a long professional career ahead of her, but I think she isn't doing herself any favors by continuing to lose at the Olympics.
